GIGABYTE Reveals AI TOP 500 TRX50 Desktop - Powered by Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7965WX

Gigabyte has low-key introduced an ultra-premium AI TOP 500 TRX50 Desktop; advertised as being: "purpose-built for local AI development, multimodal fine-tuning, and high-performance gaming, delivering workstation-grade performance and advanced AI capabilities in a streamlined, plug-and-play format." A firm price point and release date were not mentioned in last week's press material. This system easily outmuscles a flagship Intel "Arrow Lake-S" Core Ultra-powered sibling; the AI TOP 100 Z890. A 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7965WX sits at the heart of the AI TOP 500 TRX50—an AORUS 360 AIO Liquid Cooler tempers this beast. Given that Team Red will be launching its next-gen Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 "Zen 5/Shimada Peak" processor family next month, Gigabyte's selection of older "Zen 4/Storm Peak" tech seems to be ill-timed. Fortunately, their TRX50 AI TOP motherboard can support the next wave of CPUs. VideoCardz believes that another variant—sporting a 32-core Threadripper PRO 7975WX CPU—will emerge at some point in the near future.

The AI TOP 500 and 100 pre-builds have something in common: both are specced with own-brand GeForce RTX 5090 WINDFORCE graphics cards. The Taiwanese firm's signature AI TOP Utility is described as: "a unified software suite that streamlines the entire AI development process. Users can explore models via RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), build and manage custom datasets, fine-tune LLMs and LMMs up to 405B parameters, and monitor system performance through a real-time dashboard. It also supports multi-node clustering via Thunderbolt 5 and Dual 10G LAN, allowing users to scale computing resources as needed." The AI TOP 500 TRX50 can be equipped with up to a total of 768 GB (8 x 96 GB) DDR5 R-DIMM memory—"enabling smooth execution of complex AI tasks and large-scale datasets. Storage is managed by AI-ready SSDs, including a 1 TB AI TOP 100E cache drive with up to 150x TBW (total bytes written) compared to standard consumer SSDs—ensuring high durability under frequent read/write workloads." An ultra-fast AORUS Gen 4 7300 SSD 2 TB is also included in this package. Appropriately, an AI TOP-branded Ultra Durable 1600 W 80 Plus Platinum PSU (ATX 3.1) provides necessary juice.

Zalman Showcases Magnetic DF Fan Series & ARGB-lit TXM2 View PSU

Zalman has debuted its ZM-DF120 fan series at Computex 2025; with an emphasis on reducing cable clutter and easy installation. This is enabled by a magnetic mounting system and per-unit pogo pin interfaces. Similar designs have emerged from rival companies in the recent-ish past; eventually leading to ugly legal battles. The South Korean manufacturer is (bravely) stepping into this arena with its heavily ARGB-lit ZM-DF120 120 mm PWM fan options; showcased in black and white finishes. Side infinity mirror panels are hyped as providing dazzling visual effects. According to specification placards, fan speed range is 600-2000RPM (±10%). Maximum noise level is 34.5 dB (±10%), and max. air flow is 70.05 CFM (±10%). Zalman did not list any static pressure data. As expected, their ZM-DF120 fans leverage a hydro bearing platform.

Sharkoon Shows Rebel PSUs, ATX Towers, and More at Computex 2025

Sharkoon's Computex 2025 booth was jam-packed. From the previously covered peripherals, to cases and power supplies. Now we are looking at the latter. The company has launched VK4 ARGB mid-tower, the MK7 ARGB microATX chassis, the REBEL P15 power supply, and the prototype STEEL SHARK ARGB dual-chamber case. Each product emphasizes customizable lighting, great cooling potential, and simplified cable management. The VK4 ARGB, priced at €59.90, upgrades its Rainbow-LED counterpart by including four addressable RGB PWM fans and a four-port controller offering 14 illumination modes. Its front panel features a high-permeability mesh design to maximize airflow. Inside, there is support for up to eight fans in total and radiators measuring up to 360 mm. Builders will appreciate space for either two 3.5-inch hard drives or four 2.5-inch SSDs, as well as a power-supply tunnel that keeps cables hidden for a tidy appearance. On top, two USB 3.0 ports and a TRRS audio jack provide modern connectivity, while dust filters on every intake area make maintenance easy.

Wizmax at Computex 2025: PSU with Flexible Receptacle, Aurora Cases, Calux TKL Keyboards

Wizmax at the 2025 Computex brought a slick new lineup of PSUs, cases, and gaming peripherals. The product that caught our eye was the Wizmax Swing, a modern ATX 3.1 + PCIe Gen 5.1 modular PSU with an AC receptacle that can swing 90 degrees, to orient itself sideways. This should help with cable management in certain SFF case types. While the AC receptacle takes up one corner of the PSU, its diagonally-opposite corner has a 12V2x6 output that rotates 90 degrees in the same way. This should offer great peace of mind for those worried about giving their 16-pin power connectors too tight of a bend as part of their cable management scheme. The PSU meets 80 Plus Gold switching efficiency, and uses a fluid dynamic bearing fan to keep cool. The Wizmax Swing comes in wattage outputs of up to 1200 W.

Wizmax also showed off its selection of cases, we've seen some of these at CES earlier this year. These include the Woofer Deeptone, and Moon, but what's new is the Aurora line of microATX tower cases. The case has its PSU bay located at the top, and motherboard tray below, with an 80 mm fan handling ventilation. The Aurora series comes in many color variants, including Dalgona. Lastly, the company showed off its Calux TKL line of compact wireless keyboards. Notice that the lid of the keyboard is cushioned, and doubles up as a palm rest when using it.
More pictures follow.

ASUS VGA Innovations at Computex 2025: RTX 50-series Noctua Edition, Flexible BTF

ASUS at the 2025 Computex showed us a few of its latest innovations in custom-design graphics cards. To begin with, the company unveiled a flexible BTF (backside cabling) solution. If you recall from the RTX 40-series BTF cards from ASUS, they all came with second gold-finger for power, which made these cards unfit for regular motherboards, as the power gold-finger would obstruct something on the motherboard, such as a PCH heatsink. With the RTX 50-series BTF cards, ASUS recessed the power gold finger such that the card has the dimensions of a regular card, and can be powered by its 12V2x6 power connector; but on motherboards with BTF capability, a breakaway power gold finger riser can be attached, so it behaves like a BTF card, letting you unplug the 12V2x6—quite genius.

Next up, ASUS unveiled the RTX 50-series Noctua Edition, with the debut of an RTX 5080 Noctua. You see Noctua cooling innovation blend more closely with ASUS design, the card no longer looks like something with an aftermarket air-cooler strapped on. This is still a large 4-slot card, but no longer 5-slot. The heatsink features many of the design innovations Noctua introduced for its CPU air coolers. The heatsink fin-stack has cavities in which the FDB fans are recessed into. The card appears slightly larger and heavier than the ROG Astral air-cooled.

Owner Highlights Singed Connector on MSI's Yellow-tipped "Safety-oriented" 12V-2x6 Connector

Earlier in the year, MSI started to showcase a simple yet innovative safety measure—involving the heavily debated 12V-2x6 connection standard. In a completely serious April 1 social media post, the brand's gaming division refreshed its audience's collective mind: "did you know? MSI graphics cards come with a special dual-color 16-pin PCIe cable! If you see yellow, your connection isn't secure. Make sure to connect it properly, and game on with confidence! Note: this dual-color design applies only to the 1-to-3 and 1-to-4 dongles." TechPowerUp's news section has covered multiple instances of 12V-2x6 cables—and an especially fault-prone predecessor: 12WHPWR—being subject to unfortunate high temperature accidents. Yesterday, an unlucky owner shared details and images of their personal experience—involving their eye-wateringly expensive MSI GeForce RTX 5090 SUPRIM SOC model, the card's bundled cable, and a Super Flower 1300 W ATX 3.1-complaint power supply unit.

This incident was documented via a Quasar Zone BBS thread—circumstances were described as follows: "it's bitter. (My computer) kept turning off with a blue screen, so I checked and found out that the connector was burned. It's a shame... I played a game (Black Desert) that uses about 400 W for about two hours, and it happened yesterday...I need to file an AS complaint." Despite being firmly inserted—i.e. no yellow sections being visible—MSI's "foolproof" design did not prevent the melting and burning of this particular cable's graphics card-bound end connector. Fortunately, the SUPRIM SOC card's power input appears to be unaffected—the owner and several commenters surmised that a defective cable was shipped with this ultra-premium product. As pointed out by Tom's Hardware, the yellow-tipped safety measure is merely a "visual aid"—so underlying faults could still occur. ZOTAC's engineering team explored a more in-depth solution; their "12WHPWR Safety Light" feature debuted during CES 2025.
