In Acer's booth at Computex 2025 we've encountered their updated lineup of gaming laptops from the Predator series as well as an extensive range from the newly announced Swift Edge, Swift Go, Swift X and Aspire Copilot+ PCs. The new Predator Triton 14 AI is a lightweight 14.5-inch gaming laptop weighing 1.6 kg with a slim 17.31 mm aluminium chassis. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, cooled by Acer's 6th Gen Dual AeroBlade 3D cooling system and graphene thermal interface materials. It also supports up to 32 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 storage. The 14.5-inch display is a Calman Verified OLED WQXGA+ touchscreen panel running at 2880x1800 resolution with 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 1 ms response time. Since Acer is also targeting creative users it includes a haptic Gorilla Glass touchpad with a bundled active stylus. It will be available in Europe this July starting at €2,999.

Right next to this we saw the Predator Helios 18 AI gaming laptop with its 18-inch Mini LED 4K display, not exactly a novelty since it was announced in February. However, it does pack a punch with up to a Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, up to GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, and MagKey 4.0 swappable mechanical switches. Available from April in Europe starting at €3,699, May in North America at $2999.99.

Continuing our visit to Computex 2025, we discovered one of the new GIGABYTE WOLED monitors alongside new gaming A18 and A16 Pro gaming laptops. GIGABYTE MO27Q28G is the company's latest Meta 3.0 WOLED monitor, meaning it uses a new LG WOLED panel instead of the widely used Samsung QD-OLED panels. In a 27-inch format, the monitor offers 2K QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution with a 280 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, matte coating and wide color gamut covering 99% DCI-P3. Other features include built-in KVM, certification for AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, and an updated menu with Tactical Switch 2.0 for quicker and easier adjustments.

Moving to mobile gaming, GIGABYTE presented its A18 and A16 Pro series gaming laptops. The A18 laptop features an 18-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display with 165 Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness. It will be available with up to Intel Core i7-13620H processors and up to RTX 5070 laptop GPU. The A16 Pro boasts a 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) IPS display with 165 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response time, up to Intel Core 7 240H and RTX 5080. For cooling, GIGABYTE implemented its latest Windforce Infinity EX cooling technology sporting 158 fan-blade Frost Fan Design, a cooling package that the company says is offering up to 270 W maximum TDP. Both laptops are said to have up to 14 hours of battery life.

Officially, AMD is set to reveal the next wave of RDNA 4—in desktop form—at some point within the second quarter of this year. Unlike its main rival—NVIDIA—company representatives have not publicly discussed a comprehensive branch-off into dedicated laptop graphics solutions. Team Red's previous-gen "Navi Mobile" Radeon RX 7000M lineup received little fanfare, and early 2025 "official" talk indicated that company engineers were focused on delivering RDNA 4 to desktop. Additionally, late March leaks suggested an increased future reliance on integrated RDNA 3.5-based graphics solutions. Seemingly out of nowhere, All The Watts!! has produced a list of six tentative Radeon RX 9000M family variants. As interpreted by VideoCardz, the leaker has cryptically included supposed compute unit (CU) counts and VRAM configurations. A rumored Radeon RX 9080M flagship SKU could be based on AMD's Navi 48 GPU design; prepped with 64 RDNA 4 compute units (or 4096 stream processors) and 16 GB of video memory.

The leaked Radeon RX 9070M XT's basic details match certain data points present on the rumored Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12 GB desktop card's specification sheet. VideoCardz reckons that the RX 9070M XT will also utilize Team Red's Navi 48 GPU, but with a reduced compute unit count of 48 (or 3072 SPs). The four remaining RDNA 4 laptop SKUs—RX 9070M, RX 9070S, RX 9060M and RX 9060S—are said to be based on company's Navi 44 GPU IP, and configured with 8 GB pools of VRAM. Two days ago, AMD hinted about new generation Radeon Mobile gaming experiences getting introduced at next month's Computex 2025 trade show.

HP announced a new addition to its OMEN 16 lineup—the OMEN 16 Slim. HP claims that the thinnest part of the 2025 Omen 16 Slim is only 19.9 mm, which is 16% thinner than the standard Omen 16. Display options include a 16-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, available in either 1920 x 1200 resolution (with 144 Hz or 165 Hz refresh rate options) or 2560 x 1600 resolution (featuring 250 Hz refresh rate). The processor lineup starts with the Intel Core Ultra 5 225H, with options to upgrade to the Core Ultra 7 255H or even Ultra 9. Memory configurations include 16 GB, 24 GB, or 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, paired with 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.

For graphics, the NVIDIA RTX 5070 is currently the only discrete GPU listed, though HP's "up to" note suggests additional options may arrive later. HP also mentioned that when using "Unleashed Mode," the system can reach up to 105 W TPP while the "advanced cooling technology" can run the laptop at 46 decibels. On the connectivity side, it features one USB-C port, three USB Type-A ports (one 10 Gbps, two 5 Gbps), Ethernet, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and HDMI 2.1. Wireless options include either Intel's Wi-Fi 6E or Realtek's Wi-Fi 6 cards (no Wi-Fi 7 support). HP hasn't yet announced any pricing information, however, they say the Omen 16 Slim should be available this spring.

Last week, we reported on a massive leak that gave us a glimpse at a surfeit of upcoming ROG gaming laptops from ASUS boasting Arrow Lake-HX and Strix Halo processors, along with RTX 50-series Laptop GPUs. The company has now gone ahead and officially teased its ROG Flow Z13 laptop and the ROG Strix 18 laptop, the videos for which were obtained by VideoCardz. Considering that these were just teasers, the details shared were sparse, but undoubtedly intriguing regardless.

The ROG Strix 18, will likely boast the Core Ultra 9 285HX and Core Ultra 9 275HX CPUs along with NVIDIA "Blackwell" Laptop GPUs, with up to an 175-watt RTX 5090 Laptop with 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Multiple other GPU options will also be available, with the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU being the entry-point as per the leaked listings. Clearly, the Strix 18 is poised to be a powerful and power-hungry desktop replacement-class laptop, along with a massive 18-inch mini LED screen with a speedy 240 Hz refresh rate. Needless to say, the G18 has no intention of being affordable.

Acer announced refreshes across its lines of Predator and Nitro gaming laptops, starting off the year with new models of the Predator Triton 500 SE, Predator Helios 300 and Acer Nitro 5. All of the laptops feature the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs, while the Acer Nitro 5 also includes AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processor options. They also come with one month of Xbox Game Pass, giving gamers day-one access to popular titles and the ability to play with friends, whether they're on PC or console.

In XMG's product line-up, the XMG CORE 15 and CORE 17 gaming laptops embody first-class hardware adoption in the upper-mid performance bracket. In contrast to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, the RTX 3060 in the XMG CORE laptops from the new E21 model generation shows a significant performance increase: with 3840 CUDA Cores, opposed to previously just 1920, the GPU is prepared for more demanding tasks than simply Full HD gaming at high quality settings. This explains why, for the first time, XMG now also offers the CORE 15 and CORE 17 with optional high-resolution WQHD displays. The AMD-based laptops will utilise a Ryzen 7 5800H in the future, but until the Cezanne processors are more readily available, XMG is still planning on offering a transitional generation that combines the GeForce RTX 3060 with a Ryzen 7 4800H.

While its honestly staggering see how many products ASUS had on display at Computex this year, I think the number of laptops might take the cake. They had just about everyone imaginable on hand except a kitchen sink. The ROG lineup was represented by the Zephyrus M GU502, Zephyrus S GX502, Zephyrus G GA502, Strix Hero III, Strix SCAR III, and last but not least the Mothership. Meanwhile, the TUF Gaming brand demoed the FX705DU and FX505DU. More surprising is the fact AMD's Ryzen 3750H makes an appearance not only in the TUF Gaming laptops but in the Zephyrus series as well bringing a bit more selection to the once Intel dominated mobile market.

Taking a closer look at the Republic of Gamers lineup and our attention is immediately drawn to the ROG Mothership which due to its design is the most unique laptop on display here. Featuring a detachable keyboard with RGB lighting, eight heat pipes, liquid metal cooling, 4K G-SYNC display, Intel i9-8950H CPU overclocked, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, and NVMe SSDs, it stands out from the crowd. Gone is the traditional clamshell if you so choose without sacrificing performance. It definitely proves to be an eye-catching product.

ASUS today announced TUF Gaming FX505DY and TUF Gaming FX705DY, a pair of gaming laptops powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor, with up to 32GB of RAM, and a range of storage options. This new platform is paired with discrete Radeon graphics tightly coupled to vivid FreeSync displays. Slim bezels frame the NanoEdge displays to further enhance immersion and shrink the overall footprint, while the reinforced chassis help the machines survive everyday life. Intelligently designed and carefully built, FX505DY and FX705DY balance performance, battery life, and affordability to provide a better gaming experience.

AMD's Ryzen processors have taken desktops by storm, and TUF Gaming laptops lead the deployment of the newest version. Otherwise known as Picasso, this 2nd Gen Ryzen Mobile APU is built with industry-leading 12 nm technology. There was a time when gaming laptops were as monstrous in performance as in size and design. There was no such thing as "less is more", and manufacturers always seemed interested in surprising us with grotesque designs that were far away from the aesthetics of ultrathin laptops.

But that has changed, and the new generations of discrete graphics cards for laptops has ushered us to a new generation of machines in which thinness is finally a virtue, not a symbol of weakness. The Dell Alienware m15 is the first gaming laptop from this manufacturer that bets on this kind of design, and the result seems to be a well balanced machine that represents a good compromise between power, thinness and weight.

ASUS's upcoming ROG GL504 Scar II, Hero II, and Zephyrus GM501 gaming laptops have one thing in common - 144 Hz/3 ms narrow-bezel panels. A source within the company confirmed that ASUS had partnered with AU Optronics to produce the new panel exclusively for its gaming laptops. The Taiwanese manufacturer even funded a portion of the panel's research and development. As a result, ASUS has exclusive rights to the 144 Hz/ 3 ms panel for at least a year. Gaming laptop competitors such as Gigabyte and MSI will have to wait it out or look elsewhere.

Certainly there are many display panel manufacturers in the likes of BOE Display, LG Philips, Samsung, and Sharp. Unfortunately, they don't offer a panel that is able to rival the 144 Hz/ 3 ms panel from AU Optronics, which is already in mass production. Consumers who aren't after a gaming laptop with a 144 Hz/ 3 ms panel have other viable options. The current offering on the market includes the MSI GS65 and Gigabyte Aero 15X that feature a 144 Hz panel with a slightly higher response time of 7 ms. And there's also the MSI GS63VR that comes with a 120 Hz/ 3 ms panel.
