ASUS Announces Prime MR120 Case Fans

ASUS today announced the Prime MR120 series of case fans, designed for quiet and capable cooling performance with a gorgeous design that adds style to any PC. The MR120 series is built to keep a user's hottest components cool and their rig quiet. PWM control and a wide RPM range also mean the MR120 series will stay ultraquiet during lightweight tasks and crank up the cooling when it is time to run demanding apps. With a maximum noise output of 21dB(A), the MR120 Standard fan model will keep unwanted sound to a minimum so users can enjoy aural bliss in their gaming sessions. The MR120 Reverse stays similarly muted with a maximum noise output of 23dB(A). The latter is ideal for users who want an interior-facing fan that emphasizes RGB, presents unobstructed fan blades and keeps things quiet.

The MR120 series achieves a delicate balance of low noise and effective cooling thanks to its thick 28 mm frame. This allows for wider blades and enables high static pressure to push air deep into the nooks and crannies of a system. The Standard model of the MR120 provides up to 58CFM of airflow and 1.7mmH₂O of static pressure for an ample ability to handle airflow resistance, cool components and prevent heat buildup. The Reverse model of the MR120 provides strong cooling performance as well, offering up to 58CFM and 1.38mmH₂O static pressure.

Realtek Shows Off New PCIe 5.0 NVMe and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 SSD Controllers at Computex 2025

Realtek appears to have decided that it still wants a slice of the SSD controller market and showed off two new products at Computex. The first, is a DRAM-less PCIe 5.0 NVMe controller that the company says will offer random read/write speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s, which it also delivers according to a CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4 screenshot that the company shared at the show. The RTS5781 as the controller is known as, is a typical 4-channel controller that supports ONFi 5.1 and Toggle 5.1 3D TLC/QLC NAND with I/O speeds of up to 3600 MT/s. It also supports advanced power saving features and common encryption protocols such as TCG OPAL 2.0 and AES 256. Random performance is on par with your typical DRAM-less SSD controller. The RTS5781 was originally revealed last year on a roadmap, but only announced now.

Next up is the RM1220, which is comparable to Silicon Motion's SM2322 in that it's a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20 Gbps controller that doesn't require any bridge chip for better or worse. Realtek claims the same 2,100/2,000 MB/s read and write performance as Silicon Motion and thus better performance than Phison's PS2251-18/U18 controller. However, Realtek has a couple of tricks up its sleeve to make the RM1220 stand out from the crowd, the first being an integrated addressable RGB controller for "gaming" SSDs and the other being integrated fingerprint reader support, where just the physical reader is needed, for companies that want to add some security features to their external SSDs.

Akasa at Computex 2025: Coolers, Fans, and PCIe Gen 5 Risers

Akasa brought a selection of its latest products to Computex 2025. We begin our tour with the company's new SOHO series CPU air coolers. The first one, the AK-CC4022HP01, is a dual fin-stack (D-type) cooler, featuring two large fin-stacks for a total height nearing 160 mm, 7 copper heat pipes, and a pair of 120 mm FDB fans in push-pull configuration, for a cooling capacity of 250 W. All 7 heat pipes make direct contact with the CPU at the base. The 120 mm fans offer addressable RGB LED lighting. Next up is the AK-CC4026HP01, a thick single fin-stack cooler that uses two 120 mm fans in push-pull configuration. This cooler uses four copper heat pipes, and offers the same ARGB illuminated fans as its larger sibling.

Next up, are the company's new T6 ProGrade series thermal compounds. These include the T6 ProGrade Plus (T685), and the T6 ProGrade Max (T695). These come in 5-15 g syringes, as well as tubs going all the way up to 1 kg for systems integrators. The company didn't put out conductivity specs for these coolers. Next up, we have the company's AK-FN120 series "ultra premium" fans that offer IP68 dust and water protection, an impeller design that favors high static pressure and airflow, and a fluid dynamic bearing.

EINAREX Fans, AIO CLCs, and CPU Air Coolers at 2025 International CES

EINAREX brought a slick little lineup of fans, AIO CLCs, and air-based CPU coolers, to the 2025 International CES. The EINAREX EX12CI is a premium and durable fan designed for moderate air pressure, but low noise due to the profile of its impeller blades. It features the company's unique lighting design consisting of four silicone diffusers near the edges of the fan frame, each with a couple of addressable RGB LEDs. The fan features a fluid-dynamic bearing. It comes in white and black. The EX12A trades some of that silence for higher airflow, with a different impeller profile. It retains the fluid-dynamic bearing, and lighting design.

The EINAREX Echo line of AIO CLCs come with two or three EX12A fans depending on the model and radiator size, which ventilate a 240 mm or 360 mm radiator. The star attraction with these is a cubical pump-block with what looks like a 2.7-inch true-color LCD. Besides radiator sizes, the Echo series come in white or black color trims. The EINAREX Vertex is essentially the same cooler as the Echo, but with a 3-D glass structure on top of the pump-block which displays the company logo as a hologram. There are addressable LEDs studded, so you can change the color of this holographic logo.

ADATA Cases, Power Supplies, and Cooling Products at 2025 International CES

ADATA tends to save the year's biggest product launches for Computex, but brought a fairly big selection of its latest case, power, and cooling products to the 2025 International CES. Let's begin with power, and the company showed us its new super-compact XPG Pymcore Platinum PSUs. These may look like SFX-L PSUs, but are actually ATX, with a very low depth, and yet full modular cabling. The 120 mm fan cooling the thing is pushed to the very edges of the fan intake. These PSUs meet ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 CEM standards, in fact exceeding them with 235% excursions for 100 µs. As the name suggests, this PSU offers 80 Plus Platinum switching efficiency.

The XPG Starfighter case is one of ADATA's first cases built on the Exoskeleton design language, where the outer body of the case is what provides structural support for the case, rather than an inner chassis. The cuboidal case features a chimney design, where air is drawn at the base, and vented from the top, with all the hot components along the way, and the graphics card installed along its height. At the top is a large 160 mm fan that pulls air. The case supports a Mini-ITX motherboard, and an SFX power supply. ADATA says that the case should support the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. The demo build at ADATA's booth featured a Palit RTX 4080 SUPER GamingPro, which is a fairly large card.

Alphacool Intros Apex Distro Plate Y60 for HYTE Y60 Case

Specially designed for the HYTE Y60 - Alphacool launches the new Apex Distro Plate for the HYTE Y60, providing an optical upgrade for this case. This customized distro plate replaces the front glass panel and is therefore a must-have for water cooling. With the Apex product line, Alphacool presents premium products that are characterized by first-class materials and innovative technology. The significant, elegant element of the series are the chrome-plated, brass G1/4" connections. They are fitted with an O-ring and embedded in the acrylic. This avoids the problem of leakage due to cracking. Made of high-quality acrylic, the Distro Plate allows a clear view of the coolant. Thanks to the digitally addressable RGB (aRGB) lighting, the acrylic enables a brilliant lighting.

The Apex Distro Plate Y60 considerably simplifies the planning, assembly and maintenance of complex water loops. Not only does it have an expansion reservoir, it also has an integrated VPP Apex pump. Thanks to the arrangement of the G1/4" connections, confusing and complicated tubing is a thing of the past. The integrated VPP Apex pump relies on a smooth-running ceramic axis. The motor coils have been moved from the inside to the outside. This change means that the pump is fundamentally more stable, smoother running and the vibrations have been significantly reduced. Another advantage is that the power consumption is far lower than that of similar pumps on the market. The entire speed range is controlled and read out via the 4-pin fan connection. The VPP Apex pump is equipped with a SATA power connector.

KFA2 Intros GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER EX Gamer in Pink and White Trims

KFA2, the brand owned by Galax for specific markets in Europe, announced its GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER EX Gamer graphics card in two new trims, Pink, and White. The regular RTX 4070 SUPER EX Gamer the company launched in January comes in black. The Pink trim involves a bubblegum pink shade taking over the cooler shroud and metal backplate. Ditto with the white trim. The PCB underneath both cards remains black, but since the cooling solution dwarfs it, it most remains out of sight when installed.

Both cards feature frosted acrylic fan impellers, with addressable RGB LEDs located in the fan hubs. Besides the illuminated fans, the GeForce RTX logo on top of the card comes with RGB LED illumination. Both cards come with a mobile app-based control for the lighting. SilverStone Intros Hydrogon D140 ARGB CPU Cooler

SilverStone today introduced its premium air based CPU cooler, the Hydrogon D140 ARGB (model: SST-HYD140-ARGB). As its name might suggest, this is a D-type (dual fin-stack) cooler that uses fans as large as 140 mm for ventilation, and hence fits into the large+heavyweight category of air coolers, targeting the segment of the market that really wants to avoid AIO coolers. The cooler uses a mirror-finish nickel-plated copper base, through which six 6 mm-thick heatpipes pass, which skewer the two fin-stacks on either of their ends. The two fin-stacks are capped off by a top-plate.

There are two fans involved in ventilating the heatsink, meant to be installed in a push-pull configuration. The "push" fan is a 120 mm, while the "pull" fan, located between the two fin-stacks, is a larger 140 mm spinner. Both fans come with addressable RGB LED illumination, and feature hydraulic bearings. The 120 mm fan turns at speeds ranging between 500 to 2,200 RPM, pushing up to 83.68 CFM of airflow at up to 4.01 mm H₂O static pressure, and up to 35.5 dBA of noise. The 140 mm fan, on the other hand, turns between 400 to 1,750 RPM, pushing up to 93 CFM of airflow at 2.24 mm H₂O static pressure, and up to 30.8 dBA of noise. With its fans in place, the cooler measures 140 mm x 160 mm x 136 mm (WxHxD), weighing 1.22 kg. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1700, AM5, LGA1200, AM4, and LGA2066. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ZALMAN Intros CNPS13X DS Black CPU Cooler

ZALMAN today introduced the CNPS13X DS Black tower-type air CPU cooler. This is essentially a variant of the CNPS13X Black that the company had launched in November 2023, but comes with two key changes. To begin with, its glossy top plate not just has an ARGB-illuminated logo and diffusers to the sides, but a 2-digit 7-segment LED display, which displays CPU temperature in real-time, in degrees-Celsius. It's important to note here that the cooler doesn't have any temperature measurements on its own, but displays CPU temperature as measured by the motherboard's Super I/O chip (i.e. as it's displayed in your BIOS setup program, or reported to software). To do this, the cooler not just takes in a 4-pin PWM connection for the fan, and a 3-pin ARGB for the lighting, but also a 5-pin USB 2.0 to one of your motherboard's unused USB 2.0/1.1 headers. You then install a Win32 software that relays temperatures from your motherboard to the cooler.

The second key change is the fan. If you recall, the original CNPS13X Black came with a non-illuminated fan with matte-black impeller. The new CNPS13X DS Black comes with a illuminated fan, with a white impeller, and addressable RGB LEDs studded in the fan hub. The fan's specs aren't any different from those on the original's fan; and there are no other design changes. A 1 g sachet of ZM-STC8 thermal paste comes included. The cooler measures 135 mm x 79 mm x 159 mm (WxDxH), weighing a little over 800 g. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Alphacool Announces Seamless RTX 4080 SUPER Compatibility

Alphacool confirms the first cooling blocks that are compatible with the new RTX 4080 Super models. Thanks to the particularly filigree fin structure, the cooling surface has been enlarged and a very good water flow has been achieved. The jet plate with revised inflow distributes the water perfectly over the cooling fins. This means that the enormous waste heat from the new generation of graphics cards is dissipated excellently with the cooler. The full-surface chrome plating of the copper base not only offers resistant protection against acids, scratches and damage, but also achieves a beautiful homogeneity and a striking shine.

In addition to the technical improvements, the Eisblock has been given a facelift: The Aurora design is kept visually calm and simple, as only one O-ring runs around the entire cooler. The design of the cooling fins and the jetplate also ensures a clean look. Thanks to the chrome plating, the illumination using digitally addressable RGB LEDs spreads evenly throughout the cooler.
