Synology Launches BeeStation Plus
Synology announced the launch of BeeStation Plus today at COMPUTEX 2025, the latest addition to its plug-and-play BeeStation lineup. With 8 TB of storage and up to 4.8x the performance, BeeStation Plus gives families, creative teams, and professionals the freedom to access, organize, and enjoy their digital world, without missing a beat. "The BeeStation lineup was designed to let everyday users benefit from a cloud-like environment without needing advanced storage or networking knowledge," said Mayi, product manager at Synology. Edit: Checked the specs and both come with 1Gbps NICs and are locked down drives. Seagate and WD both offered similar single drive NAS back in the the day and they were at best turds.
Seems kinda contradictory to me, but OTOH, I am a FIRM believer in keeping all my personal data on my own arrays, and having several local back-ups of said data, and NOT sending anything to "da cloud" for any reason.....
At least they could have given it a hardware warranty as long as you pay for the cloud service.
Avoid like the plague, they've turning into the Broadcom of turnkey NAS providers and are just out to milk people who recognise the brand name at this point.
There are plenty of other NAS providers that don't take the piss, offering superior hardware, more flexible software, and at a lower cost.
